No text visible when running "cmd.exe"

Can anyone help please? When running cmd.exe all I get is a cursor but no
visible text.

This may be worth a shot.
Try this:
Open a Command prompt
Start | Run | Type: cmd | OK |
{You may have to start the Command Prompt the way you usually do}
When window opens | Right click the top border |
Properties | Colors tab | Make sure
Screen Text
and
Screen Background
are NOT the same color | Modify shortcut that started this window |
