No Sysvol

I have a small network with twnty WS and two domain controllers

The domain has been set up since NT sp3 and teh domain controllers have been
upgraded a few times in that period.

Now niether domain has a sysvol share
in the FRS event log it says
warning the domain controller is having trouble replicating from it's
partner, if you look at the other DC it says the same thing.

The servers are amd2000 3 x 80 gig HDD 1000meg ram
and Compaq P2 500mhz two 36 gig SCSI drives 500 meg RAM

When I do an ipconfig /all

If you try to open active dir Users and Computers it fails because it can't
find the domain but if you tell it to connect to a domain controller first
all domain info is there. Also netdiag is looking for COFFS but the domain
is coffs.com.au, COFFS was the Mixed-mode name



I did not actually notice this for some time so there do not appear to be
any pre problem backups

There are two messages every time I restart frs the first one says

File Replication Service is scanning the data in the system volume. Computer
OCTO cannot become a domain controller until this process is complete. The
system volume will then be shared as SYSVOL.
To check for the SYSVOL share, at the command prompt, type:
net share
When File Replication Service completes the scanning process, the SYSVOL
share will appear.
The initialization of the system volume can take some time. The time is
dependent on the amount of data in the system volume.
