No good with 4 DIMMs, any BIOS settings (P5LD2 Deluxe)

I updated the BIOS with watever was latest version last week.
I have four identical DIMMs, OCZ PC2 4200 512MB Dual Channel Value 4-4-4-8.
Works fine with two DIMMs, but if I put all four in, it shows the initial
logo and that's it, no memory test, can't get into BIOS, nothing.
All DIMMs are OK, as I tried swapping them; likewise for all four slots.
Tried very conservative settings in the BIOS (when booted with two DIMMs,
then restarted with the four), even tried erasing CMOS, nothing will get it
to boot with four DIMMs. What do I do? It's terrible to have four DIMMs and
only be able to use two...
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried 4-4-4-12 manual setting ? 4-4-4-8 sounds
aggressive to me, and the difference between 8 and 12 should
have a minimal performance impact (we're talking about
DRAM RAS activate to Precharge delay here).

Get a copy of CPUZ (cpuid.com) or Everest Home Edition (lavalys.com),
in order to understand what the Auto settings are doing first. Install
two DIMMs, then use the above two tools, to examine the four
memory timing parameters, the clock speeds for memory and CPU,
and so on. By recording the settings when the BIOS uses mostly
Auto settings, you will know good starting values for modification
of the BIOS settings in more manual modes.

In the Asus BIOS, extra settings are hidden, until you take
some of the BIOS settings off the "Auto" setting. If offered
"Auto", "Manual", "Turbo", select Manual as a means of being able
to see new options, without those options assuming aggressive
values.

If you select slack timings ("Configure DRAM Timing via SPD"
[disabled]), save the settings, then shut down and install the
other two DIMMs, perhaps you will be able to complete POST.
I cannot say 100% and for sure it will make a difference,
because it could be that the BIOS has become very confused
by something stored by OCZ, inside the SPD chip on each DIMM.

HTH,
Paul
