A word of warning to those considering another costly upgrade: mind the
small print in the download window!

They are no longer supporting ICE in version 6 of Silverfast for these
scanners. The only hint appears in the download window.

Thank you for warning. I was considering, but was not so quick to step over
5.5.

Dear Mr Radermacher,

Nikon does not support the LS 2000 on Mac OSX. SilverFast offers great
software for this scanner and we are currently working on a solution
to support ICE for the Nikon LS 2000. This will take time of course.
Everybody is welcome to test a demo version of Silverfast with the
SRD-Feature - Smart Removal of Defects. Documentation and even movies
are available on our homepage showing how SRD works and how to use it.
This way the Nikon LS 2000 can be used on Mac OSX and users can get
the best out of their images when spending a little time understanding
the SRD function in SilverFast.

Been there. Done that. A far cry from the real thing. Period.

I have no MacOSX as no Mac. And I have no LS-2000 either, because it died a
slow death a couple of days ago... It seems like repair will be unreasonably
expensive. RIP...
