Newbie a question about canoscan

Hi all,

I'd like to buy a scanner for transparencies and negatives to obtain
digital images with a minimal resolution : 300 pixels/inch, size about 1800
x 1200 pixels.

Is the Canon Canoscan 9900F capable of this performance ? Else could
someone to give me a better reference ?

Thank you in advance

The Canon Canoscan 9900F can give you 2685 x 1800 pixels from a 35 mm frame
by scanning at 1905 DPI. The Canoscan has a maximum resolution of 3200 dpi
which will give a maximum scan of a 35 mm film frame of 4535 x 3024 pixels.

However if your primary focus is on 35 mm film, a dedicated film scanner
would be a better choice.

For good informaion on scanning go to:

Wayne's list of film scanners is at:

The more popular models are Minolta Scan Dual IV for low price.
Minolta Scan Elite 5400 and the Nikon Coolscan 5000 models for high end .
