New users do not have all of the programs that I have.

Just downloaded Microsoft XP and set up individuals with
their own screen names, but all the other users, except
for me, have minimal access to programs on their screen.
They have to use my screen to use their e-mail, other
programs are not available to them to use, etc. How can I
make their screen (desk top)look like and operate like
mine? Also, to get our e-mail system to operate in each
screen name that I had set up?

What network setup are you using? Server OS? Is this Novell? More details
would be helpful.

Hi David,

The program likely need to be reinstalled under each user - this is not
uncommon, especially with older software designed for Win9x systems.

As to e-mail, assuming you are using the Windows default - Outlook Express,
you will need to setup the mail account under each user login, then use a
common store folder that all profiles can access. It's easy enough to set
up, but carries with it a danger.

Log on as any user, open Outlook Express. Click tools/accounts and go to the
mail tab, click add-->mail to setup the account. Then, click
tools/options/maintenance tab, click on the store folder button. Move it to
a shared location accessible by all users (right now it is under their local
profile). "Ok" your way out and close Outlook Express. Logoff and repeat the
steps for each user, this time selecting the location selected/created by
the first user.

*IMPORTANT* Do NOT use fast user switching with Outlook Express left open.
You (and all other users) MUST remember to close it before switching. If any
user fails to do this, the mail store may be corrupted beyond repair, and
all saved messages will be lost.

If you want their desktops to look like, and operate just like yours, let
them sign in under your account.

Do you mean downloaded or purchased Windows XP?
