New Physical Disk resource in Cluster - not able to add

T

Thomas Olsen

Hi all.

We have a 2 node cluster connected to a SAN.
I just installed more disk in our SAN and created a new
LUN.
The new LUN shows up in Disk Manager on both nodes. I
wrote a signature on the disk and formattet it as default.

I created a new Cluster Group and were going to add this
new disk as a Physical Disk resource in Cluster Manager,
but the list of available disks is empty.

Why is that?
I have tried to restart one of the cluster nodes without
sucess.

Please help.

Regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Have you assigned the new drive a letter (the same on both nodes) ?

Thanks,

Thomas,

Best bet is to disable the cluster disk driver on both nodes, then re-create
the partition in Disk Manager. Once this is created without the interference
of the cluster disk driver, you should re-enable the cluster disk driver.
This usually fixes this problem.

For more info, read the following KB article for how to properly add a disk
to a cluster:
