new camera needed

hi everyone seasons greetings


I need to suggest a new camera for my sister


it is for the arrival of my nephew.
we want to take pictures of his child days as you can imagine we have gone picture mad

the camera will be used a lot, looking for at least 6mp
price limit = £150

im not really that good in this sort of stuff
i have a sony t9 myself and i am well pleased with it
but no point getting the same camera for her

your thoughts appreciated please
can u reccomend a camera?

Nikon D40's are going with lens for around £300.00 and that's from Hong Kong and Germany.

PSD99: Consider the Nikon Coolpix range or the Canon Ixus range.

My daughter got a Nikon Coolpix for around £100.00 about 9 months ago and she's pleased with it.

My Ex has one of these and I tell you what after looking the camera over and shooting some pics with it, I was quite impressed, the shots were nicely lit and very detailed and colour correction was pretty good, she paid full price for it about 5 months ago..

Build quality was impressive and had a nice brushed aluminium finish, and the camera had some weight to it which usually means some quality components...

Gotta be worth a look in the Argos Christmas sale...

Failing that the Nikons that Flopp's has told you about are quality camera's..

I just think it is overpriced it is the sony DSCT30
I got the T9 and I think it is great, but the difference between the two is marginal but the price is too much

That Nikon looks good but it's above your budget isn't it?

Only digital cameras I've had personal experience of is I've owned Canon A40 and (currently use) Canon A80. I have used a Nikon D50, geezer down the pub has one, it's part of his professional photographer's setup.

Please don't ask me to comment on Sony because as far as I'm concerned, Sony have betrayed their customers with one thing and another.

That's just my my opinion, but I really am not fond of Sony anymore, I wouldn't buy anything Sony if you paid me.

I think, maybe, you realise how I feel about Sony. Rootkit anybody?

On another note, that HP camera looks good, worth checking out, and Staples have some good offers on HP digicams atm.

lol of course there are many out there

but because she's got lots of nectar points from sainsburys she wants to use them all on a camera and can get i beleive a ton off of the price
thats why we looking at argos

Ok PSD your comment is noted but you did say price limit £150..
The link you have given is to a camera costing £199.99 so in view of that, it's probably why it has more features...

I know it's been said time and time again on this Forum but when it comes to Photography it really is only worth considering Nikon and Canon.

Bit of a bargain Here

And here's one for £110.00 worth considering.

BTW, just which camera does your link refer to?

EDIT: The first link I gave you, for the Nikon Coolpix L12, is actually a fiver cheaper at the place you linked to, it's at the bottom of the list. Best camera for the price, imo
