Networking XP and 2000 PRO

R

Rob Pahl

Trying to network two computers; XP Home and a 2000Pro
machine thru a linksys 4 port hub/router. I have internet
access on both, but I need to share printers and files.
Any help on setting this up would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rob

I have always had the same problem networking windows xp
home with anything. It seems to be the snobby big sister
of the windows family that never comes out of her room.

The default network settings should work on both XP and 2000. It will
make things a little easier if you set 2000's workgroup name to MSHOME
to match XP.

Make sure that XP's Internet Connection Firewall is disabled on the
local area network connection:

Share a disk or folder on one computer, and access it through My
Network Places on the other one.

Share a printer on one computer and install it as a network printer on
the other one.
