net use lpt1: \\server\printer doesnt work

Hi there
Users running wXP are logged in to domain as ,,ordinary'' users (not admins). I need to map network printer shared on some print server to local printer port (eg. lpt1). Unfortunatelly it is not possible because of lack of rights. Are there any possibilities to allow ordinary users to map printers

In a word..... No

Unless you can get local admin rights there isn't anyway of mapping printers, unless something has beenoverlooked in the domain admin side, but I very much doubt that.

God, what kind of advice do "experts" give on this newgroup
you can try net use without the port ( of course you have no right on the probaly existing
lpt1: port ) ( but i think you do not have to specify it
anyway you could upgrade your scripts to vbs http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q26322
it all depends on the share rights
