Need to Get to Recovery console dos prompt

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me - I have a pc that has a virus I believe it
has infected the boot sector and has deleted necessary startup files - I have
used the XP Recovery startup disk to try to recover the data - I press R and
it and takes me to a screen where I can choose to R recover F format disk and
lose all data or Quit-
I have choosen R and have gone through the recovery process - it completed
and told me to reboot I did and XP will still not reload - anyhow here is my
question I thought there was a dos command line in the Recovery console I
want to run fixmbr and fixdsk to try to save the data - how do I get to that
screen? or another question would be how do I get access to the C drive to
try to run a scan for the virus and clean it out?

If you got your visus scan program on a CD check and see if that CD is
bootable, if it is you can boot from it to run the scan.
