Hello Everyone! Sure hope someone can help me. I am always playing PC Games on my computer and all of them are on CD-Rom. But now all of a sudden they don't seem to operate correctly anymore. For example: I have always played a game called: Desperados-Wanted Dead or Alive. But I recently upgraded to Windows XP and had to re-install the game. Well, now when the game comes on, the sound is "spotty" and the curser is transparent when it is held over something. Sometimes, portions of the screen will "flitter" while the game is trying to be played.
I tried re-installing some of the other games and during attempted play I would get a "error" notice and the game would exit.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I always get uneasy when I hear the phrase “I upgraded my operating system” … one really should start from scratch and do a “Clean Install”, its safer.

A little more information would help us to help you better … Make, model and relevant components would help.

If your not sure, download Everest, it will give you all the information we need.

Your 'problem' is the Video Card Drivers under XP ... The Diamond V550 is a little long in the tooth.

I know its a nVidia chipset Video card but the Detornator drivers will not work corectly under XP

Try These drivers for XP

probably worth whacking an FX5200 in there to keep up to date, only what £30, if you can that is.

Will solve driver issues. and also is a faster card.

That may, or may not work with an AGP x 2 slot ... is not the FX5200 an AGP x 4/8

Ah yes, good point. Did not see that there...

BUT

For the Asus model, and i would assume they are all the same inside technically...

Bus Standard: 2x/4x/8x
Thought it will not be as fast at 2x.

It's a Dell system, is it? What's the model number?

However, I still posted the correct drivers for your video card. ;)

:)
