Need Help: Virus/Trojan is freezing up Windows

S

SirViper

I have Windows XP Proffessional
Recently i was looking to download a movie using Bittorrent... the movie
wasnt even finished downloading and i got System Warnings of errors and
such... i immediately removed the movie and cancelled download, but it seems
like it was too late... i ran AVG 8.5 and it found some trojans and stuff
but then my Screen froze... nothing on my screen moved, keyboard didnt
respond to anything, mouse was moving but didnt respond to anything.

I tried many times to reboot and run AVG 8.5 right after, tried to use
System Restore but it seems i dont even have a restore point to go to... the
program doesnt even show the button to manually create my own restore point
which i found it odd, and the only month showing is this month of July,
doesnt let me go back in previous months to see if i have other restore
points... everytime i reboot my computer, wether im running anti-virus,
wether it finds anything or not, regardless of what i do... within a few
minutes (usually not longer then 30 min of signing in Windows) it freezes...

the only time my computer works is when i reboot in safe mode...

something i also found strange is one time after rebooting... while the only
window running was AVG 8.5... suddenly from my speaker i heard sounds, first
something foreign like german and then some broadcast with the band called
Pussycat dolls (which i dont normally listen to, never heard that interview
before)... internet explorer or any media players werent open and i was
hearing some interview with the band Pussycat dolls and i didnt even know
where it was comming from... this only happened once.

Now im running in Safe Mode with Networking but still have some problems...
in safe made it doesnt freeze up... but the only thing i can do with AVG 8.5
is scan... i cannot update or anything... i have downloaded and installed
Malwarebytes and Spybot but i cannot run them... i double click on
Malwarebytes but nothing happens, i double click on Spybot and it shows in up
in the Taskbar thing, and i can update it but the window doesnt actually open
up only the Taskbar shows... i downloaded Superantispyware but i cannot
install it... it keeps saying that it experiences an error and needs to close
(a previous window said my admin settings dont allow me to download it)...
sometimes when i try to surf the internet in Safe Mode, it closes my
window... i couldnt even make this post on my computer... im posting now from
my sisters laptop cuz whenever i clicked New> General Comment, nothing
happened.

Im getting the feeling like someone is controlling what i do on my computer
and wont let me run antispyware or properly use the internet even in Safe
Mode.

please i need help from someone that can help me fix this problem so i can
run windows in normal mode without it freezing after a few minutes. thx

Hello,

Do you remember what the System Warnings said exactly before it crashed?

Also look at the Event Viewer for some clues. Here's how

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Look under Application and System for 'Error' and 'Warnings'. More
information on Event Viewers here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

My initial suspicions are running out of disk space or a failing hard disk.

these System Errors happened alot repeatedly during July 14 and July 13 and
July 12

as far as the error i got when Windows was freezing up... i got no errors...
just suddenly out of nowhere, regardless of what i was doing... even if i
wasnt doing anything... it just froze nothing responding, mouse moving but
not responding to anything... i just realized i can now reply on my own
computer (as im doing now)... before i wasnt able to, even in Safe Mode...
maybe one of the things 'nass' asked me to do worked with me posting online
in Safe Mode... those scans 'nass' found a few things but im still getting
the same problem with my computer so that didnt fully resolve the issue...

'nass' your email didnt work, so plz let me know again where to send the
HiJackthis log.

Hello,

I am not able to identify any hard disk failures from the events you posted.
However, there are many references to missing files.

You may want to wait for someone else who may identify the symptoms you have
posted and advise you accordingly. At our side here, with the information
you have provided so far, we would recommend a clean reinstall. Backup your
data since you are still able to access Windows before things get worse.

You can post hijackthis logs in the address below, but this does not look
like a malware infection to us.

as far as the error i got when Windows was freezing up... i got no errors...
just suddenly out of nowhere, regardless of what i was doing... even if i
wasnt doing anything... it just froze nothing responding, mouse moving but
not responding to anything... i just realized i can now reply on my own
computer (as im doing now)... before i wasnt able to, even in Safe Mode...
maybe one of the things 'nass' asked me to do worked with me posting online
in Safe Mode... those scans 'nass' found a few things but im still getting
the same problem with my computer so that didnt fully resolve the issue...

'nass' your email didnt work, so plz let me know again where to send the
HiJackthis log.
