Nec usb2 card with no usb2 speed?

Hello.
I recently bought a "Nec Usb 2.0 PCI Host Adapter" for my stationary pc.
I have Win XP service pack 2. Before installation of usb2 card, I had 4 usb1
ports, 2 on back, 2 in front. I installed the pci card, restarted. Windows
automatically installed drivers (from where I wonder? And how does it know
it´s usb2?) I then try to use a usb2 storage device...Windows tells me: "This
device could operate much faster...click this for more info..." I thought
windows maybe searched for the correct drivers before it installed. I then
try to install from the driver-cd which came with the card. The installer
from cd tells me that it has installed the correct drivers for the Nec usb2
card. I restart and try the usb2 128 memory card again. I clock a
file-transfer: Still 12mBit !?? In the device manager, every
usb-hub-controller tells me there is no problem, but what should I do?
The usb2 card DOES NOT operate at 480 mbps. Can anyone help me?

Use Device Manager to remove ALL USB ports, hubs and
controllers, then reboot.

Not Me

Also, be certain that you have plugged the 128MB Jump Drive, Thumb
Drive, Flash Drive, Mini Drive, or whatever, into a jack on the back of
the new USB 2.0 PCI card. My point: the new card does not upgrade your
previous USB jacks or devices.

As said before, any USB ports that were in your system, before you added the
USB 2.0 card, will only work on USB 1.1 speeds. Any ports directly on the
USB 2.0 card should also work at USB 2.0 speeds.

As for the drivers, Microsoft, and Intel, had made the drivers "standard"
in Windows SP1 update (and now in SP2).
