Narration gets cut off or slides don't move forward on some slides

Scott

I've tried using help and frequently asked questions and I
can't seem to solve my narration problem.

My narration gets cutoff at different times on some of my
slides, or after the narration it won't move forward as I
had cued it but only after along delay. I don't know
why? I'm tried making adjustments according to the Help
and adjusting the timeing and such.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Please reply to my
email. Thanks - Scott

Dear PPTMagician,

Let me jump in here since I am having exactly the same problem that Scott is
(See my post "Problem with timings with narration. I notice too that we are
using the same version of PP: 2000.) I tried your suggestion with both a
slide that hangs up and one that cuts off without success. First, it appears
that when you use either the "Record Narration" or "Reherse Timings" feature
and save the timings, that leaves both "On Mouse Click" and "Automatic at
XX:XX" boxes checked. I can uncheck the "Advance automatically after XX:XX"
box and the transitions work fine with a mouse click. No hang up or cut off.
Then when I manually reset the slide transitions and animation timings (now
with "Mouse click" unchecked and "Automatic" the only box checked), the
problem reoccurs. The same is true if I set the timings using the Reherse
Timings feature. What number I put in the "Automatic at XX:XX" makes
absolutely no difference at this point. The problem is attached to an
animation within the slide. Let me give you an example:

I have a narrated slide with one animated image. (The animation happens to
be Wipe but that appears irrelevant.) The narration is 14 seconds, and I want
the slide to stay on the screen 17 before transitioning. The slide
consistently transitions at about 25 seconds. I found that I can manually
adjust the point at which animation takes place and the slide will ALWAYS
transition 10 seconds after this animation. If I move the point of animation
up in the slide, it will transition early before the narration is finished.
If I place it where I want it toward the end of the narration, that will
cause the slide to hang up longer than I would like before transitioning.

Eighty percent of my slides have no problems. Some are much more complicated
with up to eight images fading in and out and have no problems. The ones I am
having trouble with are fairly simple: an annimated image or 2 or 3 bulleted
points. I don't see any consistent factor to predict what slides will have
problems.

Is this a rare problem? Do only Scott and I have buggy PPoint 2000 programs?
Please give us some help here.
