My mouse is not working after installing Windows XS service pack 1

I installed service pack 1 last night, but after
installing it, my mouse is not working. It is an USB
mouse and I tried plugging it in all USB ports, but it is
still not working. I went in the hardware console, but
the mouse is not there. There isn't even a driver. why
is that?

Nick,

Do you have any other USB devices? What does Device Manager show about the
USB controller? Are there any yellow bangs or red Xs? You can try to
uninstall SP1 through Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs and see if that
brings the mouse back.

Service Pack 1 updated the USB stack, and there are some issues that you can
install hotfixes for, but it may not be the issue. You can open an incident
with our tech support to request hotfixes at no charge.

Before I give you too much info, tell me what dev mgr says about the USB
host controller.
