MS Word has been replaced by ms Publisher on my Start menu!

I'm really not that pc savvy but....I've never even used Publisher!

I've looked in 'all programs' and in the 'add/delete programs' in 'my
computer', finding Office but not Word individually. While I'm unsure how to
add the Word icon back to my Start menu, I can't even find the Word program
on my pc.

So, as it stands, the only way for me to create a new doc. in Word is to
open a previous Word doc. I have on my pc then click file, open, blank doc.
That works fine but ...ugh!!, you know?

Can anyone help??

Many, many thanks!!

If you are able to open an old word document that means word is installed on
your system. Try doing a search under all folders and files.
An easy way to pin something to the start menu is to right click on an icon
in the start menu and select pin to start menu.

hope this helps you out

Thank you for your response.

You're right, Word is clearly on my computer but even your recommended
search in all files and folders came up blank.

I am completely stumped!

I understand what you said about right clicking on something in the start
menu to pin or unpin but how do you pin something to the start menu that
isn't there already??

Many thanks!

I repeated the search for ms Word and it came up!

I was able to create a shortcut to my desktop for it....now I simply need to
fiddle around to figure out how to creat that shortcut for my start menu. I'm
sure I'll get it.

So...your easy solution worked! I am so dying to know how it vanished from
my Start menu to begin with and even more so how on earth Publisher replaced
in there!

Nonetheless, thanks!!!!!

If the icon is on your desktop then just click and drag it to the start
button. This will put a shortcut on the start menu.

glad to help

Yet another way, right click the desktop, select "New" then "Microsoft Word
Document". Just as easy as going through the Start button. R Bear.

You have managed to delete the start menu shortcut. If you repair Word
either from within the application (you haven't said which version) or
repair Office from the Office Setup in add or remove programs, this should
restore your shortcuts.
