MS Antispyware slowing down computer function

T

Tony

Just an FYI, I have recently installed MS Antispyware
BETA on a computer running Windows XP Home SP2 and have
noticed the following problems.

1. It seems to have slowed down some of the functions
such as when I clear the History, there is a major lag.

2. It has done the same thing when clearing the taskbar
menu of recently viewed doccuments.

These are some of the problems I have noticed with the
program, and it seems to happen only when all of the auto
protect features are enabled within the Windows AS BETA
client. I was also thinking it could be a conflict with
my also running Anti-Virus program. This should be looked
into.

Hi

- Start with a house clean of all temporarily junk.
CCleaner helps you with that, www.ccleaner.com.

- Remove all unused programs, Control panel > add/remove programs

- Defragment your drive
Double click My Computer
Highlight a local hard disk drive by clicking on it once.
Right click the highlighted local drive
Click properties
Click the tools tab and click the defragment now button.

If you are using Tracks Eraser, this is the problem.

Since the current release of MSAS doesn not scan for
cookies/dataminers, the functionality of Tracks Eraser
does not work as expected. It's even possible that most
of the functionality of Tracks Eraser has been disabled.

This likely will cause problems when using Tracks Eraser.

I agree with plun about using CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com).

If you have something such as Window Washer from Webroot
(webroot.com), you can do everything that CCleaner does,
and more. You can even shred files, making it almost
impossible for anyone to recover data!
