Movie Maker 2/Photo Story playback problem

John

I am having a problem with the playback of a photostory
file in MM2. When I import it into my collections and
double-click on the clip in that window, it previews
perfectly. However, when I drop it into the timeline, it
no longer shows on the screen. The audio file (created
in MM2) plays, but the visuals do not appear. It also
causes all of my titles and other clips to remain black
during playback.

What can I do?
Thanks--John

Okay, so I wrote this and then took more time to search the newsgroup. It
seems that a lot of people are having problems with this same thing.
However, I have been unable to find a solution that applies to what I have
going on here. I have checked papajohn's website for hardware acceleration
and codec troubleshooting and everything else I could find, but nothing seems
to apply. I see from some other postings that perhaps I need to be a bit
more specific regarding the nature of the problem, so here goes:
I am using a brand new Dell Inspiron with tons of unused memory. I am
trying to use a 48 second .wmv file created in Photo Story 2. It plays back
successfully in Windows Media player. It plays back in the collection
window, but not in the Movie Maker 2 timeline. This is true whether, or not,
I add audio to the timeline. If there is audio included it plays, but the
display is still black. If I have other items in the timeline (titles,
additonal photos, etc.) they also are not displayed when playing back. Is
there some sort of codec problem between these Photo Story 2 and MM2? I have
checked "update codecs automatically". Don't both programs use Windows Media
Video Codec 9? What else can I do to make this work? I appreciate any help
you can give me. John
