Mouse freeze to login freeze - HELP!

Hello,
I've spent the last two days reading threads about mouse and keyboard
freezes with the Microsoft PS/2 Intellimouse. I started having
intermittent mouse freezes (which also locked up the keyboard) about
two weeks ago, which recently became frequent. All I could do was cold
boot. I checked the Device Manager and then Properties and Resources
for the mouse (which is a non-USB mouse). I noticed that two standard
drivers were selectable, but also notice something about an IRQ
conflict. I (not being a PC guru), removed a driver that I new was
neither one of the ones the mouse circuitry needed. Now when I cold
boot, the first screen I get after Windows 2000 Pro screen loads the
system is the government security disclaimer screen (with an "OK"
button to proceed) My problem is I now have no mouse or keyboard
activity. Using ALT-TAB is not working, obviously. Can someone please
help...how can I get the mouse drivers operational again....? I don't
have the Windows 2000 Pro OS, as this machine, with many others, were
given away to employees free of charge, when the office upgraded
(read: NO TECH SUPPORT). This is beyond aggravating.

The machine:
Dell Optiplex GX110/500MHz
Windows 2000 Pro

Thanks in advance for any help. An e-mail reply would be greatly
appreciated...!
