Mouse cursor keeps cornering itself

Meaning it keeps going into the corner (usually lower and usually on
the left near the start button) and won't come out until I've moved
the mouse back and forth a bunch of times. Sometimes I can't even find
it and only when I use the Ctrl+M hotkey from nView do I see the rings
appear in the corner but it seems 'stuck' there until I go back and
forth with the mouse a few times. I don't have any mouse software that
would account for this behaviour and have checked tweakui for any
weird settings that might cause this. I'm running XP Pro with a MS
Wireless Optical mouse (even put in new batteries). I've tried all the
different settings, display resolutions and even changed display
drivers without success. I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

I have exactly the same problem and am using the same set
up ie wireless optical mouse with XP Pro.

Would be interested in any solutions put forward.
