Hello,

I am wanting to upgrade my processor and am unsure as to how far I can go with the speed.

I have a AK74 motherboard which supports AMD ATHLON / DURON processors 100MHz (200MHz DDR) FSB.

Am I able to install an ATHLON processor with a higher FSB like 266 FSB ?

If not which is the very best/fastest processor my motherboard will support.

Many Thanks in advnace

Sam

I don’t think it would be worth it and really depends on which MB you have ... being the AK74-SC, the AK74 EC and the AK74-AC ... and if the MB manufacturer has a BIOS update to accommodate the new CPUs.

At worst your MB is 4 years old (40 years in technology terms) you would be better off getting a new MB, CPU & RAM. :(

Have a look here.
