Missing file header Word 2007 and Excel 2007

I had a virus back about a year ago, I had to repair my windows xp home.
After repairing and re-installing MS Office 2007 the previously saved word
files and excel files do not display. The Word docs are filled with boxes
and the Excel files are blank. Even the jpgs, bmps and gifs are blank. I
sometime get a message saying something like corrupted file header.
These files are vital and i need to get them back.

as you get blanks in all types of files (not only Office), it sounds
like the virus created havoc with them all.

Unless you have a backup of these vital files somewhere else (and before
the time the virus did its work), I don't see much hope, I'm afraid.
