Missing drive letters for CD-ROM and DVD-ROM on my Computer

The computer can detect both but there is no letters for them on my computer.
They use to be drives E and F and now if you put a CD in either they are not
recognized. Can someone help Please!

When I go to device manager they are there but they have a exclamation point
over them. I have tried system restore and that did not work either.

Hi Husker - See here:

sound like it applies but take the steps outlined there to delete the Upper
and Lower Filters. Or, . . .

care of
deleting some other things which can cause problems as well):

pretty much the "standard" fix for this type of issue. Backup first so that
you can recover if there are problems (there aren't usually, BTW).

It's recommended by Compaq/HP that you run FilterFixer also when this occurs
to recreate the correct entries, here:
