Messenger auto start ?

I have msn messenger 6.1 and it starts up automatically
when I start msn explorer . Is there a way to stop this
and only start it manually ?
I asked at msn support and they said to untick the
startup when connected but it is unticked ?

Unfortunately no, MSN 8/9/Explorer will always start Messenger, you cannot stop it.

I have this same problem, is there anyway to uninstall
it? I use trillian instead, and every time I open
outlook express, it logs me off of trillian and turns on
msn messenger

Hi,

You can uninstall MSN Explorer/8/9, but you can't get rid of just Messenger (MSN Explorer/8/9
will just complain that it isn't installed, and then proceed to reinstall it automatically
for you). However, you can stop Outlook Express from starting Messenger. To do so, close
Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:
