Message says "Trying to open file that's already open"

I've transferred Excel files from one computer to
another. When I "double click" on the file from My
Documents, the file opens, but a message box appears that
states:

"A document with the name 'name.xls' is already open.
You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if
the documents are in different folders.
To open the second document, either close the document
that's already open, or rename one of the documents."

I have searched my C drive, and there is only one copy of
the document there. If I click "OK" on the message box,
the message goes away, and the file acts normally. It's
just a pain.

What do I do to stop the message from appearing?

Try this Doug

Tools>Options>General uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

Close Excel first and
On the Windows Taskbar

1 ) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
(unregserver is not always needed)
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

Thanks, Ron! The re-reg worked great! Just a pain in
the butt problem, but now it's gone. Appreciate the fix.
