Message "NTLDR is missing" - system won't boot

J

Jim L.

Message appeared when shuting down. Was running fine
until that time, and now I can't boot. Does anyone know
if this is a result of a virus, or ?? Is it recoverable?

Thanks for any insight from anybody...

could be a virus... or currupted boot record on the hdd... or there could be
a floppy disk in the drive.

check for the floppy, and if its there, remove it.

Boot up in console mode. You can run several utilities from there incuding
fixboot.

All you need to do is startup the computer in the Recovery console and replace the NTLDR file...
