Maximum zones on 2000 server

Does anyone know the maximum number of zones that can be
handled on 2000 server. Currently I have 1600 domains and
getting ready to add another 3500 domains.

Is there a limitation?

I've heard 9000 has been used, and I'm sure it will go well beyond that.
