Map Network Share for AD Group

Hello Everyone,

What are some (the best, preferably) suggestions of ways I can use the tools
of my Active Directory and Windows 2000 Servers, to allow a Users Group to
map a specific network share as a specific local drive?

For example, let's say I want all my Chemistry 215 students to have access
to a folder \\chemistry\215 and I want it mapped as Y:\

I thought I could probably apply a GPO to a User Group, but I don't seem to
be able to do that, so however you do it (if that IS how you do it), it's
not immediately evident to me.

Thanks!

Hi,

Create a bat file containing the line net use y: \\chemistry\215 /y and call
this file from a GPO on the chemistry215 OU as a logon script.

Oh, wait...

Okay, I have to create a seperate OU for this to work?

Is it not possible to apply the GP to a simple User Group?

(curious)

Hi,

You don't have to create an OU for this to work if you don't have it
already.

On the OU where the users are create the GPO and then make sure that only
the selected group have apply policy right. (security on the GPO setting)
