Lsass.exe or lsass.exe

Bill Tobin

I am confused. In checking my system for problems, I went
to Processes in Tasl Manager to look for things I am not
familar with.

I found this process called lsass.exe (that's a lowercase
L) running. I checked a site i use every once in while
that has listing of start up files and it tells me
the "lsass.exe" file is a result of a trojan, but do not
confuse it with Lsass.exe (uppercase L) which is a system
file.

In doing a search I find the lsass.exe in a Windows
service pack, but I don't think the search pays attention
to upper and lowercase letters.

When I do a search on the net, I am getting indications
that the file is legit as it is used with both upper and
lowercase (and sometimes all uppercase letters in the
name).

Does anyone know what is right. Should I do something
about this file?

Thanks
