Lost my CD Rom and DVD ROM on install

Laurel

Ok, this sounds totally crazy but I hadn't tried to use
my CD -ROM or my DVD-Rom since I upgraded to XP last
month. I tried to burn a copy of a cd yesterday and it
just will not work. It won't open or anything. This is
the same CD player I used to load XP! I then tested my
regular CD player and it will open but is not recognized
in the device manager either and does not run. ANY tips
or ideas?

Thanks,
Laurel

"CD-ROM Drive or DVD-ROM Drive Missing After You Install Windows XP"

I think that the problem is particularly likely if you left Roxio Easy CD
creator software installed during the upgrade. (The safest course would have
been to uninstall ECDC, and re-install it after the upgrade, if you have
Version 5.01 or later.)

For a fix that doesn't involve manually editing the Windows registry,
