looking 4 good mobo with a "Dual Gigabit LAN" for a server

Hi *,

this would be my first trial at a "homebuilt server" (previously I was just
using PCs)

I want/need:

1._ a mobo:
1.1_ which BIOS let me boot without a keyboard or monitor attached
1.2_ supporting ECC memory
1.3_ with a built-in Dual Gigabit LAN

I see some of DFI LANParty mobos sporting:

Onboard LAN
LAN Chipset: Vitesse VSC8201 / 10/100/1000Mbps
Second LAN Chipset: Marvell 88E8001 / 10/100/1000Mbps

How could you tell if they are full dupplex or not?

2._ a silent power supply

3._ enough RAM (1 GB)

Also I am planning to run Linux. Do you know of reputable merchants selling
configurable Linux barebones?

Also I will be administering the box myself, which other things should I be
looking into?

Any other references to this type of "prior art"?

Thanks

All of the Nforce4 Ultra motherboards have dual gigabit ethernet
controllers. The Nforce4 chipset has an accelerated gigabit controller
(TCP offload and hardware firewall) built in. The manufacturers all seem
to include a second MAC (which I'm assuming does not have an offload
engine). There is builtin hardware SATA RAID also in the Nforce4 Ultra,
the board guys also tend to include a second RAID controller on the board.
I'm using an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum with and Athlon 64 X2 4400+ and 4G of
RAM running Fedora Core 3 64 bit. Tyan, ASUS and Gigabit have similar
boards. I got my system from MonarchComputer. They sell their systems with
a choice of OSes, I bought mine with no OS.

something that I forgot to mention.

I have this box full of NICs that I will have to thoroughly test. Which
software and/or hardware people use to do functional; and stress tests on
NICs?

Ask on www.dfi-street.com, too. While most of the people on that site
are overclocking gamers there are guides on RAM, power supplies, and
more.
