Hellooo and welcome to PCR :)

"Perfect gaming tower" and "£600" aren't usually two phrases that you see together, though you should be able to get a pretty good gaming rig for that money.

I would suggest you look along the lines of:

Socket 939 AMD 64 Processor
Socket 939 Abit Motherboard
1Gb GeIL Value RAM
256Mb nVidia 6800GT PCI-Express/ ATI X800 XT PE 256Mb
450w BRAND NAMED Power Supply
Dual Layer DVD-RW
SATA 160Gb 16Mb Cache HDD
Floppy Drive
Tower case
Couple of case fans

You should be able to get that for around about £600... if not you will have to lower the spec here and there...

Regards

Chris

I'm sure plenty of other people here will have some good suggestions for you :)

Also... if you`re happy with overclocking, you may as well buy a 3000+ or 3200+ processor, as they OC very well, even with stock cooling. Much better value than a 3500+ or upwards.

Kenny,

SLI will be very expensive, certainly not in the £600 budget. Also when looking to overclock, you really need memory capable of higher speeds... i.e DDR433 or higher as opposed to DDR400, and this is very expensive.

I think the most viable option would be to go for a good 939 system, and run it at stock for a while, as overclocking is not covered by warranties.

Simon,

Try www.overclockers.co.uk they have some sweet gear there...

Hi Simon.....

Heres a start.......... and all from the same supplier Komplett, you can swap and change components as you see fit to fit your budget and spec.

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=307117&s=sc Motherboard

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=304047&cks=PRL Processor

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=118498&s=sc Memory Ram

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=121277&s=sc Case

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=305080&s=sc PSU

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=307192&s=sc Graphics Card

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=302608&cks=PRL Hard drive

This little lot approx £604 all from same supplier, but if you source from other suppliers price may go up or down with delivery charges...:p

Athlon64 route makes for an excellent gaming machine, but don't discount other avenues like athlonxp 3200 or intel p4 3.2 with ht technology.
You pays your money and takes your choice.......:)

Just want to comment on that graphics card shown by crazylegs ... lol

I had that untill i accidently ordered the Gainward 6800 which i currently use, and sold that Gainward 6600GT to a friend...

Just want to say that the card is easily capable of games at high spec for me that is :p lol

Good for overclocking :)

So good choice of card lol

I did say as an option.... Would opt for Nforce 4 anyway, for a gamer, theres not as much of a future for AGP with future games...

It comes back to the post that was made about ppl posting with a budget, and we all start nit-picking over components and suggesting things that are out of budget. I never thought I`d be guilty of it... DAMMIT!

OC`ing does necessarily need very expensive memory. low-latency PC3200 can be pushed pretty far, or if the user is willing to use a memory divider, FSB can be taken even higher.
