DDE enabled is correct - removing the check from the setting allows to
repair itself. So as long as it works correctly after removing it once,
it's fine if it reenables itself.
If you still get the link browser dialog - did you try resetting wed
settings in IE's tools, options, programs?

I have tried this in the past, and actually got the other link in the
original post from this very site. When I try to clear the check for DDE,
the change does not get enacted. The very next time I open it, the old
settings are still there with DDE. How can I get this to work?

I have a recurring problem. Whenever I try to open a link contained in
an
email, the Locate Link Browser dialog box appears. I tried to follow
the
directions from the link
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=821692.
The
changes I make to the file types do not take effect.
How can I fix this problem?
