Local Area Connection received Limited or no Connection warning

I have high speed DSL service & XP Pro> Since I updated to XP2 my high speed
is down to less than 10 Mbps vs. 300. I recieve a warning that my Local Area
Connection has Limited or no Connection. In troubleshooting I found that
Windows is trying to assign an IP address to that connection and is unable.
Is there a update that will fix this problem.

nothing wrong with windows, it is your DNS server not giving u a IP address.
Try updating the firmware for your router.

I get this all the time ever since Sept.
I noticed some strange things going on with the net in late Sept, early OCT.
I have a 4 hour IP lease and this DHCP failed starts in long before the
expriation. It usually renews but once in a while it assigns the 169 and
stops the browser.
The NIC is alway poping up a ballow about being connected, limited, not
connected.

My NIC properties, Advanced TAB, now shows a long list items that were never
there before Sept.

I suspect the teleco or ISP has changed the way things work.
I suspect the no ping and resist attacts settings on a FW's, also, cause
that's the only thing I've changed.
(I'll try turning those off and test it.)

But for sure something is different now than it was before Sept., and it
irritating as a reboot is needed every 8 to 30 hours.
I used to leave my HOST up for a week or more with no problems.
I'd call my ISP and complain but I may as well tell it to the sky. ;)

Anyone know of some new network stuff being used?

Yes, My ISP indicated that they are having this same issue with many
customers, and they are trying to work on a solution, in the meanwhile they
said sit tight. Not my style! I'll figure out what need to be tweaked, but
was hoping someone had already figured this one out.

My ISP sent me a patch to this well know problem with SP2. After a back up,
I'll send back the results. If it works for me, I'm not sure if it will work
for everyone, unless your with the same ISP? Not sure about taking someone
else's medicine!

I agree, but it would be nice to get what you pay for. The highest I
recieved before SP2 was around 220, maybe 225.
