linksys router--slow speed on one computer, fast speed on other

I have windows xp on two computers that are both connected to Linksys
BEFSR41 four port router. Also have the basic PACBELL.NET DSL
service.

On one computer repeated tests show only about 142 KBS download speed
and 136 KBS upload speed, which is inadequate for downloading files.

On the other computer, which is connected to the same router, the
Download speed is 1304 KBS and the upload speed is 137 KBS.

Any suggestions on what is wrong with the first computer? How can I
bring it up to the same speed as the second computer?

Best, Aaron

Compare the network params between the two PCs. My first guess is
that RWIN is way too small on the slow PC. Search the 'net for
DrTCP.exe to examine RWIN.

Hi Bob: Thanks for your suggestions. I did download DrTCP.exe and
attempted to find RWIN without success. Did not fully understand the
operation of the program. However, what I did do was to purchase a
brand new ethernet card, the LINKSYS 10/100 LAN Card, and it
immediately raised the download speed to well over 1000 KBS. I don't
know what was wrong with the previous installed LAN card, but the new
card solved the problem. Cost is less than $12. after $10 rebate.
