Lexmark Z25 driver installation does not detect printer in XP - any ideas?

hello all,

I have XP pro and a Lexmark z25, everything used to worked great. I
moved house and when I plugged my printer back in to the SAME PC it no
longer worked!

XP detects a new USB device (inkjet printer) but when I try to
re-install the latest drivers the installer says "looking for
printer...", find nothing and thus wont continue.

The printers self-test works fine and I have tried different
cables/USB ports to no avail. I have followed some instructions that
help ensure all traces of old printer drivers are completely gone but
this did not help either.

I am at a loss as to why the driver does not detect the printer but XP
itself does. Any ideas?

thanks guys,

Gav

It's a USB device... you should install the drivers BEFORE you connect the
printer.

Now you'll have to unisntall and then reinstall to get it working correctly.

It's a Lexmark. See Bruce Sanderson's instructions at
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

After rebooting, download a new set of drivers from the Lexmark website and
install the software. Do NOT reconnect the printer to the PC until the
software tells you to do so.

Cheers!

I shall give this a try tonight, its odd cos the installer tries to
detect the printer during install and will only proceed if it finds it
or if you choose the manually configure

I will uninstall as per your instructions and then reinstall
(selecting the manual option) before connecting the printer and see
what happens.

thanks again!
