LAN Connection Status on LAN startup

I have just created my own LAN. When I connect to my LAN ie. upon startup,
the 'LAN Connection Status' dialogue box comes up. How do I stop this box
appearing if I don't want it?

Jeff,

does it disappear on its own after a short time? Is it the
yellowish pop-up balloon message?
