.jpg files on my desktop as thumbnails, HOW?

R

Richard

Hello,

How can I modify XP Pro so that any .jpg files on my
desktop are displayed as thumbnails so I can see the file
content at a glance? I have a friend with a computer set
up this way... but he does not know how it was done.

Thanks,

Richard

Do you have a views button on your toolbar, if not right
click on toolbar click customise, hilite, and add.

Hi,

I am afraid I am not sure which toolbar you mean. When
XP is booted and nothing is open... all you see is the
program and other icons sitting on top of the desktop.
The only other bars visible are the taskbar and the
office toolbar which is docked.

Please define....

Thanks for you time though... really appeciate it!

I just tried to do it by renaming some pictures with
*.ico > and sending them to desktop > then renaming them
back (the shortcut stays ico). It seems to work for some
bitmaps and not others, but didn't work for any of
the .jpg's I tried.

.
An alternative would be to change the icon. right click
on the desktop icon and select properties > shortcut >
change icon > browse.
you could download some suitable icons to a folder and
keep the folder somewher easy to find.
