Is there a way to disable login prompt when accessing a shared drive on WIN 2000?

I'm trying to make a WIN 2000 shared folder accessible to all (XP)
users on the network. When trying to connect to the folder it asks for
a user name and password.
Is there a way to remove this login prompt and get full access to a
specific folder on WIN 2000 directly?
Thank you very much.

It's asking for credentials because:
1. Your running a domain and whatever you logged onto the PC as is not in
the domain username database (ie you log on locally)
2. Your running a Workgroup and the server does not have the credentials of
your PC login in it's local username database (ie you log in to the PC as
Bob with a password of RED. The server needs to have a local username of Bob
with a password of RED. This will prevent an authentication box from
prompting). If the username is missing or the password is different, you'll
be prompted for credentials.
