Internet in my opinion is like going on the streets and having the dicipline, you cross the street with your eyes open, you stay away from bad areas, you need to know which places are good to visit, you are watchful of thugs and thieves.

When on internet following applies.

Smart is when you believe half of what you hear (read),
Brilliant is when you know which half to believe.

Internet is a wonderful thing.

On the whole I think it's a very good thing, but there are some areas where you need to be careful.

It's no different than the big wide world, but may be the bad things are a little more accessible than those off-line areas.

It gets my vote for a big thumbs-up

For me, I think..... apply the usual common sense. Very useful for researching and looking up things of interest and do not go where you do not need to or want to go. I have (touch wood and many fingers crossed) never had any issues. On the rare occasions and for work related issues have had to go into certain sites I have made sure that those who need to know both know and more importantly agree and record their decisions as such. I try to teach my children good internet practices and to keep themselves safe.

Most things designed by man can be used for both good and evil. An example is the man who desgned the AK47 Carbine, he never for one moment though this automatic rifle would become the most widely used weapon in the world.

yeah i think its good and bad, a love-hate thing going on. But what discaurages people most about pc's and the internet is probably the money involved. i also think that viruses are generally over-rated

It is all of the above. Like books before it, the internet allows people to use it for both virtuous and disagreeable purposes.
