Hi

I don't know about you all reading this but I for one have
spent the last freaken week doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING other
then deleting, reinstalling, downloading, and reading
newsgroup after newsgroup of virus crap and security BS.
What was this XP version boasted as?? Correct me if I am
wrong but wasn't it supposed to be the MOST secure
operating system ever. YEAH RIGHT! This program has cost
me over 700 dollars for just the win xp software and
miscellaneous expenses. Not to mention countless hours of
screwing around doing yet another update, (every day it
seems) then having to fix what the upgrades screwed up.
And oh yeh, all the hours of not getting a freaken thing
done other then falling asleep on my futon with yet
another wasted day of fixing XP Problems. Can't make money
using this crap, I for one GIVE UP BILL GATES PROGRAMMERS.
I am switching to UNIX or LINUX, oh hell maybe I will just
type all my work on the EDIT.exe in Dos Mode. Heck at
least there I can actually type something without a
program tracking my every move and copying my strokes.

Good nite and good luck.

PEACE OUT

Just remember to download and install all the updates for
your Unix varient or Linux distribution...there are more
of them then you might think. Oh, keyloggers are rather
common cracker tools on *nix as well, and you'll need
antivirus/firewall programs for *nix while you're at it.

If anything it is your fault that you have spyware for going to dodgy
websites. Places like Google and Yahoo don't give you keyloggers or other
spyware. If you download programs like KaZaA what do you expect.

Oh.. real funny, sheesh, I guess it is true what they say about the newsgroups, you probably get discounts from Gates, for sticking up for his crappy products. And go figure not one person other them myself has responded realistically about how they feel about spending more time fixing this crap then actually being able to utilize the money we spend to buy it.

If you are just going to be a moron and a liar don't respond, its like you are all abunch of followwers... now go drink the grape cool aide little boys and you will feel fine LOL.. dorks

Well what did you want a realistic response to? I've not seen you ask a
question in your post that someone could actually answer, it looked like you
were just blowing off steam, so personally I left you to get on with it.

If you have a right to let off steam, then those who gave you replies you do
not like have the sane right to let off some steam in return, surely?

The guy who said that if you go for linux, remember to download the patches
for that, was entirely correct by the way - no system is bug free. Thats not
how it 'should' be, I've got better things to do as well, but thats how it
is.

Now if you've got a problem with your computer you were hoping we could
solve for you, feel free to ask.

Your right, I was just letting off steam. And as for the problems, what problems. I think they are just embredded in the software, so I guess as you said it is how it is. But I fixed the issues I had before I sent the post. Its the same problem as the other two hundred plus people have been posting. Popups, Viruses, yadda yadda.. same old crap so I figured why ask the same questions and get the same response, which is click here, update this blah blah been there done that since I bought this computer a year ago, and the other 9 computers that I have bought over the past 8 years that started with WIN95 and they are still not done fixing the ISSUES. Ok.. thanks for the response at least you understood my point. As for linux I run that on my other computer and it is fine, not near as many problems and easier to get rid of.

Ciao

I have 12 systems running XP and all are virus free and cause me very few
problems. I realize you were blowing off steam, but what type of response

Ok, alright already....

I said I was just venting. Look I have gotten very little sleep in the last couple of days,
I have a deadline to meet by Tuesday afternoon, or else I risk losing a considerable amount of money if it is not completed on time. I am a financial / business consulting here in Northern Calif. and for the last week all I have been able to get accomplish is playing virus detective and running virus scanning software, adware/spyware/buyerbeware programs.

I am not a programmer nor an IT Tech, but I have worked with computers for 20 years and have all the latest upgrades, updates and firewall software known to man. And yet the popups still get through and drop their unwanted product ads in my computer. Trust me I don't go around porn searching or warez shopping. These ads come from very well known companies that pay programmers to come up ways to get through all the aforementioned software.

I do apologize for my tamtrum but after dealing with this mess all week long (well more so it seems like this week then ever before.) I just got fed up. By the time I was able to finally get rid of all the little files out of the nooks and crannies of my files I was frazzled and pissed. Now I have to rush to get the data I need and complete the work that I should have already had completed this past Wednesday. So I have to squeeze a weeks worth of work into the next two days and I am tired and really angry at the fact that this is not only affecting my business buy it is an invasion of my privacy, time and my hard earned money. So that said I will leave you all alone and let ya do whatever it is that you all do on here. By the way it was my first ever post on a newsgroup, thanks for making me feel so loved hehe.. ciao boys

check out http://www.lavasoftusa.com and download their free program called 'ad-aware'. it will scan and remove any spyware/adware/etc that it finds. you can also use 'spybot search and destroy' which is freely available. look for it in a search engine. HTH.

All you guys sound correct to me. Oh, about all the hotfixes, what kills me is the fact that MS keeps putting out new versions of the software every few years because they need to feed the company. They rush out products way too fast in my opinion, they don't respect the end user and business like they say in the company mission statement or they would loose money to spend more time (years and years) testing the product!!! Liars like most businesses. You guys should click over and read that crap (mission statement page). If we did not have to use this software (and was not making so much money supporting it) we probably would not use it ...given a better solution- but I don't see an alternative...I only buy MS products so I guess I'm just contradicting myself. Now on to more serious "stuff".

I have to install an exchange server for a company. I don't know a thing about it so I will be buying and reading books shortly. Can one of you guys or gals tell me if it is possible to have Outlook connect to an exchange server but still get email from other POP servers? I want to set it up and test the "shared" calendar functions and public folders while still using the email system of the current T1 provider --ISP--. That way I don't have to switch the companies DX or MX records or whatever to point to the new server that might not work correctly. It would be nice to have the public folders, webmail, and calendar from the exchange server for a few weeks and if it runs fine switch our email over to it also. You got me? Can I do this? What if I set up the exchange server with a slight modification of the email domain name for testing and then how hard would it be to reconfigure the system with the correct domain information and email addresses. As you can see I have alot of research to do..

Thanks
and I wish you certified professionals as many contracts and satified customers as I have...all done without qualifications. Got to love MS for feeding me.
