iPod corrupted by Vista? Help!

After connecting my video ipod to my new computer running Vista, the ipod no
longer shows up in itunes. I have 2 other computers running Windows XP, the
ipod won't pull up on them either now. It does however appear in My Computer
on all 3 computers. From what I gather from Apple's website I need to Restore
my ipod, but their website says to do that from within itunes. I don't want
to restore it! It plays fine, it just can't be updated or seen on any
computer. But even as a last resort how do I restore it if itunes doesn't
recognize it?

This may be more an Apple issue than a Vista/Msft issue and Apple should be your first place for support.

Have you considered backing up your Itune music as a precaution, then removing and reinstalling ITunes.
Note: Itunes last version has caused other folks a variety of problems when used in Vista...Eventually Apple will get it right...they're not about to ignore 100 million users and many with the intent of Vista in their future.

I had the very same problem with my iPod. I had to download the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website and then restore my iPod. The restore process erases the iPod entirely. However I have had no problems since doing this.
