Internet Sites Security

Mustafa

I am using Windows 2000 network. Internet sharing thru
windows 2k professional. I want to restrict site to eash
users. The can only go to a particular one or two sites.
If they try to access any other sites it should ask for
password or access denied message. I have enabled the
content option, but if i logon using a different user the
setting doesn't make any effects.

Pls anyone suggest the high level security to set only for
restricting the sites.

Regards.

I suggest a firewall/internet appliance. You could also put a personal
firewall on each computer as another option. Even many of the economy
dsl/cable routers can block some outgoing access. I would recommend
restricting access to websites based on their ip address and not name as
some devices will not block requests by ip addresses. You can research the
capabilites of these devices by visting the manufactures websites and
downloading the users manuals BEFORE you purchase as they may not all fit
your needs. You could also use W2K built in ipsec to filter access to the
internet - not the first option I would choose [no message to users,
computer would just hang until IE error page comes up], but it is built in
and free. --- Steve
