Internet Explorer Script Error: Error in loading DLL-

This query is also posted in the Internet Explorer 6 Forum, due to the following problems I am unable to proceed through the Microsoft Support pages, I'm hoping MS support person might read this and offer some help before I'm forced to start with a clean hard drive
Apologies if it's bad form to post twice

I am running latest IE6 SP on latest XP Home SP. IE is suffering from the following problem(s)
-Internet Explorer Script Error pop up opens on some pages with errors similar to
Line:
Char:
Error: Error in loading DL
Code:
HTTP//whatever the site or link is...

-Some sites like the Microsoft update link in "Tools" open completely blank with a "done but with errors on page" message, clicking on the message for details gives an error message like the one above
-Programs that use an IE interface? like our new tax progam, also get this "Internet Explorer Script Error" pop up with a similar error and the question - Do you wish to continue running script on this page? Clicking Yes will invariably lead to a series of such windows, and finally to the page the program was trying to show you
-I am using Navigator to get this far into the support pages: IE6 when I clicked on the "new thread link" opens a new explorer window that contains the same image as the one tiled behind it, but will never complete the new window - the hourglass just spins forever. This happens on many pages or links I try to open and is limiting the support options I can get to

I have managed with Navigator to update IE6, Windows XP , Scripting Engine 5.6? for XP, Direct X, and the graphics driver for our intel 845 chipset. I have searched the knowledge base and not found anything quite similar, but was unable with IE to proceed through the online support due to the above problem

Where do I go from here
Severely limited in Vancouver, Joe

PS: I am also unable to print any pages from IE6 or emails in Outlook Express; clicking on the print tab or pulling it down from the file menu results in no action by the PC at all.
