Internet Explorer Address Bar Problem & Cursor Problem

I'm using IE 6.0, when typing a valid web-site address in
the address bar a pop-up appears stating that the address
is invalid. However, I can use another search bar and
click on the web-site and load the site. Additionally, my
cursor will not work on any web-sites. I can click on
drop-down menus but I can't type on any web pages.

Can anyone assist me?

Are you running any anti-virus/firewall software on your version of Windows?
