Internal 2'nd hard drive, and external enclosure problems

Can you please help me? I had a second hard drive already installed, is
a 123 gig hard bite drive. My entire life's work is on that drive. My
computer crashed (again) over the weekend, got the unmountable boot
volume blue screen (has happened several times before)- I finally got
it running again, downloaded all the Microsoft updates, etc, installed
them all, then started getting the LAS Error messages and the 60 second
reboot problem. Finally appear to have that fixed as well, but now the
computer will not recognize the second hard drive. Yesterday, when I
tried to reconnect as I used to do, just plugging it in inside, it
kicked off the power to the pc. It's never done that before. Now, the
computer will not see it, installed inside, also will not see an
enclosure as well. It shows both having been installed and ready to
use, (the little message at the bottom when XP finds new hardware),
however, it won't read the data or acknowledge that there is data on
the large external, nor even see either one in computer management. Is
there a way to get disc management to see either drive? Can I save the
data on the large drive? Please help!!!!!!!!!

First thing to try would be to see if it will work in another computer, and
hopefully one that is working well.

When you said that it kicked off the power to the PC when you plugged it in,
are you saying that you plugged it in while the computer was on? You might
have shorted something.
