Intermittent Outlook send error (0x8004210B)

I am using POP against an SMTP server. All works well but intermittently I
will get the send error and the message is stuck in the outbox. When this
happens I can successfully telnet to the port 25 on my mail server. If I
close Outlook and open the stuck message sends and continues along its merry
way. I have a few users with this same issue.

Outlook 2003 with the latest SP. Any ideas are appreciated.

Hi,

One thing to check for is Anti-spam filtering software, which can cause the problem you are having. Turn off any such software and test to see if this resolves the issue.

I have a similar issue. Configured MS Outlook Express to receive and send
mail from AOL server. It receives fine but has never sent. I have no
outgoing file spam filters. SMTP port was changed to 587.
