Installing Logos software causes Error Code 6 Internal Error

Darleta

I'm running Windows XP Home Editition and trying to
install Logos Libronix Digital Library System (Bible
software).

The installation fails and I get the following error
message:

Error code: 6
Internal Error.
Exception 0x800736b1: This application has failed to start
because the application configuration is incorrect.
Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I couldn't find anything about this on the Microsoft site,
but the logos.com website says it is caused by missing
MSXML4 manifest files and instructs me to use their Repair
Manifests Tool as listed here:

This tool detects and repairs common problems with MSXML
4.0 manifest files (a technology used for side-by-side
installation on Windows XP).

ftp://ftp.logos.com/pub/tech/RepairManifests.exe

Does anyone have any knowledge about this error/solution?
I'm a little leary about running a program that's going to
change system files that I can't find any info for on MS's
site... Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This is not an issue with your operating system or a virus. Are there
any user forums for the Bible software? I would check there first.
Since you have XP, you can set a System Restore point before you apply
the Bible software company's fix. To set a System Restore point, go to
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Choose
"create a restore point" and name it something memorable, like "before
Logos fix". Then you can apply the fix and if it hoses the system, get
into Safe Mode and restore to that point.
