I didn't see a "Windows Installer" newsgroup and I'm installing on Win
XP so I'm posting here.

Basically, I'm getting this error when trying to install the latest Palm
Desktop. I've contacted their support and after a couple mails their
latest support contact is telling me that: "Please be informed that
this error message is something related to the Operating System of the
computer you are using. So please contact Microsoft technical support
for further clarifications on this issue." I'm very suspicious that
this statement--unfortunately for me--is not the case.

What I'm asking is if this PalmOne(tm) tech is right to refer me to MS
to get support for this issue. If he's not right, does anyone have any
tips in getting further help from PalmOne?

All prior comm's between myself and PalmOne(tm) support pasted below
sigdashes (read it and weep, they're *really* bad. My paperboy probably
knows better). Emails have been despamified.

Cheers,

~Jason

If you notice, the machine I'm installing on is Windows XP Professional.
Internet Explorer 6 is integrated with this operating system and can
not be uninstalled. I can assure you that Internet Explorer 6 is
installed and fully functional on this machine and has all updates from
Microsoft applied. The operating system also is updated with the latest
service pack and all updates.

I will not be downgrading to Windows 95a as suggested because that
operating system is *really* old and totally unsupported now. Windows
XP is listed as being supported by Palm Desktop so this should work.

Please advise.

Regards,

~Jason
